last week's artjumble topic was alan moore's watchmen. i really wanted to submit something that week so i worked up a quick pen sketch (top left corner) which eventually evolved into a quick comic strip. the entire thing (from idea to rough to pencils to ink and finally to color) took me a few hours. kind of an exercise for myself to see if i could pull off a fully realized strip in a short amount of time.the character above is rorschach who was brilliantly portrayed by jackie earl haley in the watchmen movie. in my opinion, his portrayal of this complex character is as good as heath ledger's joker in the dark knight! i did have a bit of a problem with the director's decision to alter the ending slightly as i thought it was an unnecessary change that really didn't make much sense but overall, i liked the film and thought it did the book justice.

also, i submitted my much talked about (only by me) P.S. 666 story to artjumble's online web comic page comic jumble. it was originally supposed to be part of a published comic anthology entitled Cake Vol. 2 but the economy being what it is....well you know. if you wanna check out my entire 7 page P.S. 666 saga just go to artjumble.blogspot.com and click on the comic jumble launch button on the top right hand side. then click the Cake Vol. 2 tab. my P.S. 666 story's in there.if you read it please let me know what you think.

This is fantastic, man.
Wow.
Awesome.
The "Alan Less" bit may be my favorite.
thanks a lot man!
the alan less bit was kinda genius on my part wasn't it.

Hey jason, dont break your arm, buddy, while patting yourself on the back! LOL! it was a great piece thought.
Kinda reminds me of the animated short, and I do mean "short" entitled
"Bambi vs Godzilla" ever heard of that hmmmm?
Also, where how can i get my hands on dat comic of yours? details, man! Since you're in NYC can I order from you directly? send me an email at cartoons4u2@aol.com and we'll talk.
if you're referring to my P.S. 666 comic story...i referred to that in the post. for now it's only available for viewing at comic jumble which is at artjumble.blogspot.com.
why shouldn't i pat myself on the back??? my genius knows no boundaries!
(for those who might not realize it...i am of course being sarcastic. it's my only area of expertise.)
p.s. i've seen the short you are referring too. classic.
amazing!
Dude, I know this is gonna sound like a copout but, I wrote a whole lengthy comment on your Rorschach drawing and for some strange reason, Blogger went on the blink and though my comment registered here, it never showed up on your comments. Very weird...
Anywho, it went along the lines of how much I loved it and thought it was so cool you made him a kid. Your kids rule, bro!!! And the strip is cool too!
s'all good jess. thanks.
i've wanted to throw my computer through a window many a time because blogger didn't accept a long winded comment of mine.
I've been lucky with leaving comments...only had one or two crap out on me...If I write something long (unlikely), I copy and paste it and save it on the desktop as a text document...just in case....
As for this strip, I like it....I love the drawings, though, I'm not so sure the whole idea of the movie can be abridged to Rorshach wanting to tell the world what really happened and then being killed. It does remind me of the Bambi Vs Godzilla short, too, though.
And I just remembered, I've gotta go check out your PS 666 story! Sorry to hear it's not gonna get printed, though.
btw, maybe I should save this...
justin- i'll try and keep that in mind next time i write a wordy comment. i find that this happens a lot to me. prob cuz i do most of my commenting during work hours.
i also realize my little 3 panel strip doesn't encapsulate the entire feel of the watchmen storyline. i just thought "watchmen abridged" sounded cool as a title.
btw...I took a look a t your P.S. 666 strip - dude, that is amazing! There is a lot of stuff going on but the layouts are great! and the colors are awesome! This needs to be printed!!
